Sony Or Microsoft to Bow Out of Next-Gen Console Race, Predicts Gaikai

Sony was quick to shoot down rumors that a PS4 would be announced at this year's E3, but things just got a lot more interesting all of a sudden, as cloud gaming service Gaikai has commented that one of the current console manufacturers actually won't be creating another console for the next generation. Speaking during CES, Nanea Reeves, chief product officer for Gaikai, predicted, "Not all of the current console makers will have one more generation. That will be the big news at E3."

If true, wow. With Wii U guaranteed to launch in 2012, that means it's either going to be Microsoft or Sony. Our take is that it's probably Sony because financially the company would have a tougher time with the huge R&D and manufacturing for yet another new console.

Beyond that, it's easy to speculate that perhaps Sony is working on some major cloud gaming partnership with Gaikai instead of devoting resources to another piece of hardware. We'll bring you more as we hear it!

Grob gesagt heißt das, dass die große news auf der E3 sein wird, dass nicht alle Konsolenhersteller eine weitere Generation bringen werden. Da die WiiU ja definitiv kommt, heißt das, sofern an der Sache was dran ist, dass entweder Sony oder Microsoft sich aus dem Konsolengeschäft zurückzieht.

Kann ich mir ehrlich gesagt nicht vorstellen, bei keinem von beiden. Mal sehen was die E3 so bringen wird.

aber zurückziehen aus dem konsolengeschäfft wird sich keiner von beiden, so blöd ist niemand...

Momentan gibt es sehr widersprüchliche Meldungen über einen neuen Titel mit den Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles in der Hauptrolle. Die als angebliche Entwickler genannten Rocksteady Games (Macher von Batman: Arkham City) hat bisher noch kein Statement zu dem Thema abgegeben.

Zuerst hatte ein User des Paul Gate Networks dort über Details zu TMNT: Manhattan Crisis berichtet. So solle das Spiel auch Flashbacks zum früheren Leben von Meister Splinter enthalten und viele Charaktere und Bosse der Serie ihren Auftritt haben. Ein Release sei für PS3, Xbox 360 und Wii U geplant. Grafisch solle sich an Batman: Arkham City orientiert werden und die Unreal-3-Engine Verwendung finden.

Nachdem Fans der sympathischen Schildkröten danach schon Hoffnung geschöpft hatten, zerstörte ein namentlich nicht genannter Insider gegenüber VG247 nun alle Illusionen und wieß kurz und bündig die Existenz des Titels als falsch zurück. Schade, denn interessant wäre ein solcher auf jeden Fall
